I would like to thank all who gave input on my trip to Calif.
I have traveled the I10 rout several times and though Bakersfield was not my end point, I thought it as good as any. I have done hwy 1 south of Big Sur. I plan to go north from San Fran to the Columbia river, then east to Mt Rushmore, and then back to Houston.
This may be the last long trip - (I am 73 and have to use a mobility scooter) so I want to get the best bang for my 3 month trip.
Thanks again

Take a week and stay in the Napa area, visit Bodega Bay, Occidental, Healdsburg, Ft Ross, Santa Rosa and Petaluma. If you have time visit the big City, too. Take tours, it's easier that way. After leaving wine country drive up 101 and visit the Redwoods, Eureka, Crescent city and all the towns on the Oregon coast on Hwy 1 up to Florence. Then you'll want to visit Eugene and CC in Junction City. We enjoy Astoria at the mouth of the Columbia, Portland area, and all the stops on the way to Pendleton. One year we followed the Coumbia branch up to Grand Cooley dam. Enjoy your trip. TWI 2004 intrigue 11731

Jim,
I'm kinda going the same places as you but just the opposite direction.. Leaving SoCal in May headed to Texas, then to Mt Rushmore, back to the west coast via Columbia River and home. Maybe we will run into each other or wave as we pass in opposite directions. Have a safe trip.
