In response to a question about coolant filters, I received the following message from Cummins...
"Please refer to page V-21 through V-24, of the ISL Operation & Maintenance manual, for the information on coolant and filters. It states that SCA concentration should be 1.2 units per gallon minimum and 3.0 units per gallon maximum. Your coolant needs to be tested to determine the level of concentration and this section tells about the test kits for that purpose. Then, depending on the results of the test kit, determines the required Fleetguard DCA4 filter to bring the concentration to the required amount. The chart on page V-23 shows all the available filters and the DCA4 units for each filter. Your local Cummins distributor can assist you in the testing and use of the proper filters for your particular application. We thank you for your interest in Cummins products. Please let us know if you need assistance in locating the nearest Cummins-authorized Dealer or Distributor Service Provider."
But, my ISL Operation and Maintenance manual stops at page V-18.
After scratching my head for months, and reading and re-reading the Cummins manual, I finally figured out that I have a defective manual! I have requested that Cummins replace the manual with one that is complete.
Check your manual. Do you have pages V-21 to V-24? Maybe you have a defective manual too!
