Hi James,

I'm not sure of a fuse location but I had problems with the light, it is wired in with the door switch and also the steps. In my case there was a wire broken in the door harness, seems as there are maybe 10 wires in that harness, they are under the front, can't remember exactly how I accessed them but was able to check continuity on each and determine the broken wire and there was 2 extra(I think) that were not used in that harness, so I was able to use one of those for the broken one. Not sure if that is your problem or not. Kevin Waite has those harness made up if you need a new one.

Marvin, Thanks for the reply, what I;am trying to do is replace the existing wall mount step light with a LED light. When I removed the faceplate the fixture is recessed in the wall. So before I short out the light pulling it out, I wanted to know where the fuse was located. I cannot seem to find to anywhere. I was sure somebody would have had a problem with these lights and know.

I don't know why you are being so anal? When I replaced my light with an LED I didn't think about blowing the fuze. My brother said you have to be an idiot to know that you cannot remove the fixture without cutting the power. I cannot remember where the fuze was located but I believe it was one of the reset push buttons.

I have a 2006 Inspire with the same problem and looked for days to find the problem with no luck. Checked all fuses nothing, I was going to wire into the under step light so when it came on that one would to, but I installed a battery powered (3-AA) 10 LED motion light that is on for only about 15sec. Works better than any little light bulb can see the outside steps also in the dark plus it only come on when it is dark and motion.

Hi Floyd

Can you tell us the model LED light you use and where you found it? Curious minds want to know!

The light has positive power to it all the time. On mine I found the problem inside the door panel, the ground wire on the door switch had come loose. Put it back together I now have a functioning light.

Try taking the fuse for the step out and see if the light goes out

I tried the fuse in the step, even took off the ground, light still stayed on. I finally powered out the generator slide and reached my hand down to feel for the wires coming out and found a plug, disconnected the plug and cut the wires to the fixture side. I made my own light out of cherry wood and LED strip aprox. 18" long and wide enough to cover the old light hole. Thanks to all that commented I guess the fuse location will remain a mystery.

Hi George,

This is what I used to replace my step light. It's a little brighter than the original which was what I was looking for.

What really is of interest is the motion LED light that Floyd referred to and where he mounted it. Any ideas what it is?

I got it at Costco over a year ago got 3 packages 2 to a package for $19.98 each. Have one at the front door so when I come home and it dark I can see the lock on the front door to put the key in plus when the dog comes to the door the light comes on. I used velcro tape and stuck it to the toe kick back on the first step on the right side as you can see it will move to 90deg angle, works great.
