Title: Country Coach rear mudflap - where to buy?

Well it looks like I will be a CC owner soon. I have made a deal on a sweet 2006 Allure Tag. Just waiting for some paperwork to be finalized.
This particular coach does not have the full width rear mud flap and the current owner says it wasn't there when he acquired it.
I sort of like the rear flaps, they are like the "signature" of a coach. So where would I find one? Do they just hang with chain from hooks?
It seems that somewhere I did read that some owners have removed them to aid in mileage, is that confirmed to help? Maybe someone has one laying around they would like to sell.

I will also check the salvage yard that was just posted.

Thanks!
Dan

Hi,

Look at Dave Hansens(SP?) post just below yours, with "no subject". He mentioned finding a location that has salvaged CC's being parted out. Might get lucky:)!
Ours on a 04 Allure, is bolted on. A real PITA to reach and get into them.
Understand wanting the look, but you might also do a search on mud flaps, as many remove them for reason. We'll be removing ours before we head off to Alaska later this year. Going to see how it goes without it. I will say that the solid mud flap does seem to toss more junk up on our toad then our old Bounders grass skirt mud flap.
Another tip, is some have tied a small chain on theirs, and angle them up a bit higher to try and avoid them dragging on the ground at times. And, you can still see the name too...

Best of luck,
Smitty

They weigh a ton, shipping would be $$$!

Dan,

I have one I'd be willing to sell off of my 06 Affinity, but as indicated by someone, the shipping charges would be very steep. I'd guess it would have to be truck freighted, because the packing would have to be wooden crate. I'm in central North Carolina. Call if interested (336)586-0528.

My wife also prefers the look, however she didn't realize until half way through our trip last year that I had removed it. I don't have scientific data to show that removing it increases your mileage but it sure keeps the fan from cycling on as often. I also use a supplemental electric fan to help the dash A/C and a louvered engine hatch. I don't tow so can't comment on that aspect. Mine is off for good so you are welcome to it if your in the South Florida area.

Ed McManus, what a great guy you are. You don't see folks willing to give up possessions these days without being compensated for them. Give and you will receive, what a great philosophy. Thanks for the input.

Ask for Joe at Northwest RV Supply just South of Eugene Oregon. When I was in there late last summer he had a couple of flaps.

Then no wonder the MPG improves when they are removed! :-)
The coach is actually in the Tampa area now and I will be do a cross country drive to Utah in the next couple weeks, so that is a possibility if someone was along the way.
What is the reason to remove them before going to Alaska? I thought that road was all paved.

Dan, I have a cc rear flap you can have. You will have to come to Tucson to get it, It needs new rubber.

Where are you located? We have one that I took off the coach for better cooling--not sure if it helped, but then we had a motorcycle lift installed, and I lost the mounting holes. I replaced the rubber (from CC) in 2002, but it is now a bit worn, and the CC steel could stand to be chromed.

I am in the process of replacing the rubber on mine. Picked up the rubber today from Texas Rubber here in Fort Worth, TX. It cost me approximately $65 for a piece just slightly thicker than the original. I don't have the old one completely off the coach yet, but so far nothing appears to be very difficult. I noticed mine had a tear about quarter the width of the flap and knew it needed replacing before it got ugly during a trip.

Ed,

Where are you located in Florida? I sent you an email but haven't seen a reply. I would love to take you up on your offer...it is very generous.
I will be in the Orlando/Tampa area next week and could come by, depending on where you are.

Let me know

I removed my flap two years ago, if there is a mileage improvement it is not much. (hard to quantify) That said, there has been an improvement in engine cooling. The problem with side draft radiators is they tend to pressurize the engine compartment. Removing the flap helps that. Also installing a louvered engine hatch is good , I have not been able to find as suitable material. Ed, where did you get yours?

Future Sales RV in Indiana did a custom one for me. Unbelievable quality and very reasonable. We had it personalized with the CC logo and our last name..

Bought it from CC before they went under. Check the archives as someone else had one made locally and I think he posted pictures.

Try driving north (I-5 for example) behind that RV with the shiny mud flap in the afternoon sun and no toad hooked up. The sun NEVER stops flashing off that waving flap. Makes one hate a CC and one cannot pass that RV fast enough. Could conceivably provoke road rage. I even tried falling back, no difference, very bright and strong reflection. It gave me a headache and it was my RV I was following... TA, 31001 2004 Allure (now in Norcold heaven or burn salvage).
