Thanks to those who responded with ideas and to Kevin Waite who called with some suggestions. I'm 1/3 through with the mirror removal and no breakage (yet)! I'm using a small wood saw that has a 12 x 1 1/2 inch blade. I sharpened the tip on my grinder and it slides behind the mirrors quite easily. Two or three penetrations behind the mirrors and the silicone is detached. Removing the silicone is another matter entirely.

Has anyone tried using piano wire to sever the adhesive bond? --
