Hello. Have just purchased a 2000 affinity to upgrade from 98 safari sahara and have tons of questions, but 2 to start:
1) what is the tag axle purpose and how do you use it
2) our shower only has hot water, NO cold. Washer/dryer, sinks all have cold. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your input!

The tag axle allows greater load-carrying capability and gives you a much smoother ride. It also gives you a shorter distance between the drive and front axle for a better turning radius. There is not much to using it. You have a switch on the driver's left that lifts the tag axle. This is used when you make a very tight turn to where you would drag the tag tires sideways if you did not lift them off the ground. You can lower the tag with the switch, or anytime the coach exceeds 5 MPH, the tag will automatically lower.

My previous coach was a 2000 Magna 40 ft, which may have had the same shower faucet as your Affinity. It took 3 techs to finally fix ours.
They ended up replacing the bulk of the shower control. There is something called a balancing part that was frozen. Our faucet was a Moen (I think, it's been about 4 yrs ago.) Hope that helps.

First I love my tag. Coaches with tags drive much smoother, but a bit of warning with a tag. On my 2005 Allure, the wheels on the tag lock when they're in the up position. I've had them hang up backing into my driveway or on speed bumps while doing tight maneuvers in a campground. Driving a heavy coach and hitting something like that, with the tag wheels locked, caused me to tear the mounting bolt out of the tag airbag. Requiring replacement of the airbag, two different times. Since then, if I'm not on level ground I don't raise the tag and haven't had the problem again.
On your shower, some "mixing" single handle faucets have an insert that lets you limit the maximum amount of hot water for safety. If the seller recently replaced your shower faucet they might have screwed up the install like my plumber did. He had the H & C reversed and the limiter set so it only gave the first connected source. I think my faucet was a Delta.

RE: Tag Axle / No Cold water in shower
Maybe this will help with your hot water issue. On our '02 magna recently replaced the Balance Spool on the Moen Single Handle Shower Faucet because of the same issue. The Balance Spool regulates the mixing of the hot/cold water. The Balance Spool is part #1423 and easily found online. Believe the cost was about $38. If yours is a Moen pull up the Moen Website and look at the exploded diagrams to match up your faucet. Took about 15 minutes to change out. Our Balance Spool internals were frozen with crud. Simple fix but takes a big screw driver to unscrew. Good luck.

Thanks for all the input. As it turns out the mixing valve was fine, but there was another valve that was frozen on the cold side. A trip to lowes, new shower kit and we are done!
