Our 2002 Intrigue has a Panasonic CQ-VA707WEUC in-dash LCD Monitor with Receiver and Changer. This displays our backup camera, plays our CDs, and provides an AM/FM radio. It is hooked to the original DHS River Park Mobile Theater System. Some functions work and some don't and I was thinking of repairing or replacing the DHS part of the system with a separate surround sound system. Some questions come to mind.
(1) This in-dash Panasonic unit (according to the Operating Manual) consists of a Display Unit and a Control Unit. Obviously I know where the Display Unit and CD Changer are, but where did they hide the Control Unit?? (2) Can I just disconnect the DHS Mobile Theater System and connect a different "Home Theater System" to the Panasonic in-dash system? Any hints? I assume this would be done at the Control Unit (wherever it is)? (3) Innovative Audio Video in Junction City was recommended for such service but I have called them on 3 separate occasions between March and May and each time was promised that "Matt" (apparently the owner and only worker) was out on a job and would call me back. On the 2nd and 3rd calls I was assured that he would get the message and contact me. It is now June and I've heard nothing from them. We will be in Junction City in late July and would like recommendations for OTHER facilities that do sound system work (and will actually talk to me on the phone so I can discuss options and schedule an appointment).
(4) For those who have changed to a different sound system, (a) what system did you install and (b) where did you put the huge base speaker unit that usually is part of those systems? The original DHS base speaker is built into a small space against the passenger side wall beside the passenger seat.
Thanks in advance for your informative and helpful replies.

Steve,
Don't know if this answers any of your specific questions but here is what I did.
I am not necessarily recommending this unit but I installed a Samsung HT-C5500. I took out all the River Park equipment by following all the wiring and only left the Panasonic backup monitor and original five speakers and their wiring. I did not use the speakers that came with the Samsung and I have no Multi CD changer/player left.
I wired the Optical output sound from my Toshiba TV to the Samsung HT system to drive the TV sound through the existing speakers. You can refer to message number 82993 and the replies to understand why and what I did. This was a lot of trouble to only be able to control the volume from the TV through the existing speakers and I probably would not have done this if I could have found a new thin TV that had the option of "variable" sound output. Seems like all these new TV's only offer "Fixed" sound output and that did not work with the existing 12 volt River Park amp.
Not sure if this is any help to you but if questions just ask.
