When boondocking, it would be convenient to be able to hook up a 5 gallon external tank to run the fridge, etc. when my rather small coach propane tank runs out, rather than move the coach. This is normally done with an Extend-a-Stay or similar kit. As I understand it, this fitting goes upstream of the coach regulator, on the tank side. On my coach, the outlet from the tank goes directly into regulator. I do not see how I can install the Extend a Stay. Has anyone accomplished what I want to somehow?

I just finished installing the hardware to have an axillary 30lb tank. The complete kit was purchased at a rv dealer here in Maine. I added the 30lb tank and it also has a lead to fuel another appliance. (gas grill etc). All fittings and hoses came with the kit.

I installed an Extend-a-Stay on my 2000 magna. I had to remove the plastic cover over the regulator. It's really a simple install. Break the connection between the tank valve and the regulator, put the E-a-S onto the tank side then the regulator on the E-a-S.
I would suggest you add a support for your regulator to keep it from bouncing as you go down the road. Check your connection with indicator fluid and occasionally check the connections as you travel. I had installed the E-a-S on my previous coach and did not support the regulator and the fittings loosened to the point that I had an LP leak.

Thanks Pete. Tomorrow I will go take the plastic cover off the regulator and see what I have under there. My 2002 Magna already has a support for the regulator. I may have to ask you a couple of questions offline.
