My rear roof air is acting strange. I turned it on today, and I could hear the compressor start, run for about 20 seconds, then shut off for about 30 seconds, then on again, off again, etc. This went on for a few minutes, when finally it just stayed on. Something is going south. What?

"Something is going south." Yes, most likely the compressor start capacitor, an easy fix. Contact the manufacturer with the model number and they'll send you one. Be sure and discharge both caps before you stick your fingers on them.

Could be the run capacitor; you should know soon enough when/if it fails to run at all. Sounds like the start capacitor is fine. Take care in checking as the capacitor retains a charge.

Well, another mystery. I posted a while back that my rear roof air (Dometic) was getting weak, and two shops have told me it would have to be replaced with a new one. They checked the front, and said it was in great shape, cooling really well. Right. Well, this last weekend I parked the coach at a park with just the front air (set at 99 degrees)and the fridge running. When I got back to the coach two days later, it was ungodly hot inside (this was in Gila Bend, AZ). The front air was not working! I checked the circuit breaker, even resetting it, no help. I turned on the (weak) rear, it works, but the front will not do anything now! Any ideas? I have the coach home now in Sedona, AZ.

Al,
We need more info. Do you hear nothing when you turn it on? Daron Hairabedian 98 Allure 30226

Nothing. The fan does not come on, the compressor does not come on, it is like there is no power at all to it, but the circuit breaker is not tripped. And the other roof air comes on just fine.

Al,
A little too obvious, I'm sure but, you said you set the thermostat to 99. You did turn it down to try and make the AC come on, yes?
Silly I know but, ...

Yes, I turned both front and rear to 83. It was hotter than 99 anyway!

Al,
It sounds like your Comfort Control panel has lost communication with the front AC. You can check the "telephone jack" connections at the AC and the panel. I have never done this but, others have said that they burnished the contacts by inserting and removing them several times.
Let us know if this helps.
