We currently have Direct Satellite TV in our motor home as well as our stationary home.
We are thinking about switching to Dish TV, home and MH. I can save considerable money if I switch.
I am looking for experienced opinions comparing the two services. good, bad, ugly!
Thank you
RJ

RJ, I don't have any experience with the DISH product/service; however, you can use the proposal you have from DISH to negotiate with DIRECT particularly if you desire not to change out as many satellites are specific to the service provider.

Not surprising, Dish is the brand-x of satellite television. They have multiple satellites, but often require multiple dishes as their orbits are not adjacent, like DirecTV.

Call DirecTV and tell them you want to cancel and when they ask, tell them why...they will cut you a deal.

We have been with Dish since 2009. Have one satellite dish and receive all Dish programming, including HD. Have it in our second home and in the motor home. Are more than satisfied. The beauty of Dish is we have kept the same programming, plus Dish has added some, but the monthly payment has remained the same. Certainly a much more satisfactory experience than we ever had with DirecTV.

Thanks Scott, I'll try and negotiate A better deal by telling them I'm going to Dish.

I have had Dish for 10 or 15 years. I am sure they are just as bad as Direct.
I had Direct for years before Dish.
The new Dish Hopper with sling seems to be a better DVR with a 2 TB hard, about twice the capacity of the competition. Plus Auto Hop to skip commercials on prime time.

Brother Scott is mistaken. I have never needed more than one dish with Dish and I have HD. I have been up and down the West Coast, across the South to Florida, and across from the West Coast through Idaho, Wyoming, South Dakota...., Brand X indeed.

I do not know what you are paying - but Direct has cloning which can save you many $. You pay for your home system and then $6 for each additional receiver - rv - cabin - farm. I have 5 clones on my home system for a $30 additional charge to my regular home bill. I even call and change my home location to receive local stations when I go from TX to farm in AR. I do not do this for the RV unless I am going to stay in a location for a while, Jimintex

I think it is a Ford vs. Chevy kind of issue. You know, religious.
I had Direct at both home and RV for several years. I fought with them for years, unsuccessfully, to get either local stations remote from my home base, or a remote network feed for NYC or SFO channels.
Bought my current coach that had Dish, activated it, and am quite happy with it. Sold the house and went full time.

We've had Dish in Bus & Home for several years. The only problem I have is a MotoSat antenna which is as old as the bus and has to manually moved from 1 sat to another to get all the programming. MotoSat told me that if Dish makes a "change" of almost anything, it can cause problems, also , I have had 2 dish control boxes fail in the last 3 yrs. Almost ready to look into DTV and their 1 satellite

Thanks for all the replies. Since we don't have any issues with Direct except for the price. I think I'll try and negociate a better price based on my quote from Dish.
Thanks to y'all again.

If you are a sports fan Dish cannot compete with the options on Direct. I have had Direct in my stick home and RV for at least 10 years and I have no major issues with them; they have improved considerably in their understanding of RV usage.
