Finally ditched the Xantrex in favor of a new Magnum 2012. Was hoping the remote panel would use the same cord, but to no avail. Hence, need to run the new cable up to the main panel area, mid-coach. Can't seem to determine routing of wires to below coach area. Anyone done this before, your help much appreciated. TIA, Roger Harper

The old cable will work for you. Search the board, and you will see that their are adapter plugs that some people use. Or, some people just cut the wire and butt splice it to the new plug. This is done on both ends.
We just had them install the Magnum 2800 in our coach, and they did the butt splice approach. If you go that route, just be sure to take the time to do a real solid butt splice, so you don't have 'rock rattle and roll' shaking it loose problems down the road:)! Solder is not a bad idea:)!
Best of luck, and enjoy your PSW!

Smitty: thanks for the input. I always try a search first, but came up empty on new cable, main panel, routing wires, etc. I'll see if the butt splice will work. Thanks again,

Roger, I changed my Freedom out but for a Victron, but that aside I used the same cable up to the panel for the new remote. It was a standard CAT5 if I remember and I changed the plugs at the end as the wiring was crossover not straight through, however I have the crimper and some previous knowledge of doing the plugs, easy but needs some practice first. If you know a friendly PC networking guy he will likely see what's needed to change, and do it for some small change?

Roger
When I switched to the 2800 magnum they used the same cable. Magnum tech is very helpful and they speak English.

Thanks Dan: my new cable was a RJ11 and the old Xantrex cable was RJ45; I decided to "do it the right way" and just bought the crimping tool for the RJ11 connectors. Easy job with the right tool. Item of note: make sure when putting on the new ends to pay attention to the sequence of the wires. Mine were reversed on the original and required the same reversal to effect the correct connections.
