There will be a lot of frustation in this post, so please understand....
12 days ago, I had direct TV upgrade my boxes to a newer version. We hit the road and yep one of the boxes goes bad. Spent 1/2 hour on the phone with a "TECH" with no satisfaction and still not working. So I ask, I need a a service call to have their TECH find out what the problem is. "NOPE" they would not send out a tech because I'm on the road and not at the address associated with the account. They are telling me that that I have to go 2 months (if I'm gone that long) without a box. I guess I could change my address to where ever I'm at, but I should not have to do that, they should honor my contract with them and repair or replace the box. I will continue to work on this matter and let everyone know what happens. Just a warning to others who are considering adding or changing to Direct TV to their coach.

I would try a call or two to the customer retention department.
I gues the easy way to get them is to suggest you want to cancel your service.

My experience with Directv depends on who I am talking to. Sometimes if you call back and talk to a different person you get a totally different answer. I have received replacement boxes from them at least twice over the past 4 years - always while traveling on the road.

They can walk you thru testing the receiver. If the receiver tests bad, they will ship you an new one. Ours turned out to be a bad diplex switch that we had just put in. Sats2Go in Houston worked on ours. He's a "guru" If we ever need satellite service, we stop in Houston!!

Dave

I have had two new boxes sent to me while on the road over the last couple of years. The second box is identified as being in a motorhome. They have refused to send a service tech to other than the address of record. We have sold our stick house and will be full time in the motorhome. I wonder what will be the address of record now.

Dan,

Our service address of record is a condo that we sold 8 years ago. We have the east coast/west coast feeds which are great when we travel in the coach, and didn't want to lose that feature by changing the service address. They have shipped boxes to us everywhere and don't seem to care.
