Title: A/C Thermostat Locks-Up with "00"

Occasionally the air conditioner thermostat in our 2006 Inspire will display "00" for the temperature and locks-up so the mode, zone or temperature can't be changed.
Sometimes it unlocks itself, sometimes we have to turn the thermostat off and then back on, and sometimes we have to flip the DC disconnetct switch to reset it. Have changed thermostats but that didn't help... it still locked up with the new thermostat.

Any suggestions as to what the problem or fix may be.

Thanks, Vince Mercurio

I did not have that problem but I just got back from Carrier and sons and had my front AC worked on. My front RVP burned up the start capactor and the capactor replace both now it works great almost most to cold. I would have it looked at because they said it could have been big bucks to fix but I got it in time.

From another post to reset: Do this.............turn it OFF. Then HOLD DOWN BOTH the zone and mode buttons AND while you are holding them BOTH down you turn it back on. "FF" should appear on the control and then you let up BOTH buttons and it should work again. IF NOT, it may be bad OR the cable may not be getting the signal to the control box. You can test it if you have a small digital multimeter and a standard phone jack.
We also found that the communication line (like a phone line) was bent a bit. Unplugged it, straightened it out and it now works fine.
we also found that we must have both front and back AC units on the same fan setting. Low, High or Auto. One AC cannot be on low and the other on auto.

Lonny & Diane - Thanks. Although I didn't get the "FF", pressing both the mode and zone buttons seemed to work.
