After 8 years of owning a read radiator pusher, I am really liking the side radiator configuration. Today I cleaned the cooling pack and was surprised that there seemed to be little dirt and grime in what washed out, not like the rear radiator coach.
I do wonder though if my fan is supposed to come on as soon as the engine is started. It was my understanding that the normal function was for the fan to be controlled by a thermostatic switch. When I had the coach to my local Cummins Coach Care center recently for chassis service, I asked them to check that. They told me all was well and everything was working as designed.

When I start the coach my fan will default to the high setting for a few minutes (never really timed it), then switch to the regular/low setting. I, like many others, have installed a fuse bypass switch so I can switch the fan to high setting when the temp goes above 205-210. I've had the fan controller checked at Sauer and operating fine, but had some high heats as it isn't able to cool sufficiently when switches automatically. I'm not as worried about the mileage as much as overheating, so the switch works great for me.
