Replacing water pump, anyone have experience with the Shurflo or Flowjet water pumps. One any better than the other? Looking at the auto demand designs that eliminates need for accumulator tank, the ones that are around $200.

Need a quick response if possible.

Joe - I went with a Shurflo unit. Seems to work OK. It has an auto pressure sensor on it so its output responds to demand. Be careful with current draw. The old pump had a 10A motor and the new one a 15A motor. The Intellitec system maxes out at 10A in their control circuitry. I needed to add a control relay, new power feed and 15A fuse to increase the current capacity whilst maintaining the same control buttons. Models on these pumps change like the weather so my pump probably isn't even available anymore. That's the scene on our bus, anyway. Our pump doesn't get used much so I'm not a good person to provide any durability data. Last time I turned it on it worked which says a little something for an RV product. Good luck.

Best - Scott

Google Shurflo 4008 for their rather new model which has 3 gpm flow at 55 psi that is probably at upgrade to your old pump which was probably 45 PSI.
I bought one on Amazon for a spare for about $69 and it had good reviews.

Joe,

I replaced our factory-installled (Flojet "Quiet Quad", Model 4406-143) water pump with a Flojet Triplex, Model 03526 144A back in 2011. No problems with the new pump, so far.
I selected the newer Flowjet model because no plumbing or wiring changes were needed - identical snap-in supply line fittings; lower amp rating (5.2 vs 7.0 Amp); flow rate is slightly lower (2.9 vs 3.2 gpm); pressure a bit higher (50 vs 35 psi).

Neither pump requires an accumulator.

The new pump is about $60 on Amazon.

Replaced the pump with a FloJet Sensor VSD, demand variable speed pump. New pump is about 3" longer that the old one so it was a bit of a challenge to get it in the bay. Also had a bad tank fill valve. Installation of the new pump required changing the plumbing to make the larger one fit. It's in and working. very quite. Hope I don't have another leak in the system, was still some water in the bay but it may be residual. If there are any leaks, it's probably the tank connections. May need to reseal those, hope not!!

Replacing your pump with the same brand usually means you don't have to changed your water connections. I have found that to be more important than the difference in the quality and performance of the different brands.
