We will be dry camping for 2 weeks later next month in a remote location. Looking for ideas about wi-fi. There is wi-fi in the office about 1/2 mile (flat land inbetween) away that we can use. It only goes out a few 100' feet. Wondering what king of a setup I can buy in advance to draw in the wireless to our coach. Don't mine spending a few $100 if need to make it happen?

Mike,
Check out the Crane US3 Super USB Wifi Antenna 3... we have it and it is the best we could find.
Found signals even a mile away. Only $100 too.

I use a Pepwave Surf 400 to capture a wifi signal and distribute it to the computers in my coach. I have, with a clear line of sight, been able to connect to campground wifi at a quarter mile distance. I was online at the campground one day when a large 5th wheel pulled in next to me and then lost the connection because he blocked my line of sight.

Hi Mike
I've been using the JEFA Tech repeater (http://www.jefatech.com/product/RV-KIT-REPEATER/Long-Range-WiFi-Repeater-Kit-for-RVs.html) (http://www.jefatech.com/product/RV-KIT-REPEATER/Long-Range-WiFi-Repeater-Kit-for-RVs.html)) for a few years and has preformed very well. Use a painters stick attached to our rear coach latter to mount the antenna. In areas where I need more height to get good reception, I just push up the painters telescoping pole to get the antenna above neighboring obstacles. Good luck.

Lot's of good products available to help pick up WiFi signals. Pete's pointing you to Jack Mayer's site is a good place for you to get more background info.
I won't way in on the choice of WiFi amps, as mine is a combo WiFi and cell Phone set up. But I will suggest that you get one that has an external jack that the antenna wire screws into. I'd look for two different kinds of antennas:
1) Standard Omni antenna, that come stock on many of the amps mentioned to you. I'd mount this on the roof full time, and hope that it covers your needs 90% of the time.
2) For those 10% of the times that the Omni/ant combination will not get you a signal, also get a second antenna called a yaghi antenna. This is directional, and usually has quite a bit more DB gain then a Omni antenna is able to provide.
The mounting to a painters pole that you extend is a solid idea, temporary mount to the ladder works well. You can run a permanent antenna cable from the rear of the coach to the amp, and then just swap out the cable that is feeding the amp based upon the need of the yaghi. I've seen others that just keep it coiled with the antenna and the painters pole, then run it in thru a window when needed.
Best of luck on your reception:)!
