I am looking for a reputable awning or sail shop in Florida that will sew a couple of replacement slide toppers for our coach using Sunbrella or equivalent fabric and high quality thread.
Can anyone recommend a Florida Canvas Shop?
(Long story short, the Carefree of Colorado stitching has failed, and one awning topper came loose at the coach side reglet. I will NOT order "planned obsolescent" replacement parts.)

We had the same thing happen on the bedroom topper, the stitching came apart so I went and got some out door fabric thread then ever foot did a few stitches by hand to keep it lined up then we did 3 runs on the sewing machine. The hard part is getting the topper off and keeping all your fingers. If the canvas still looks good I would just get it restitched.

Best material is Sunbrella Clarity (10 years warranty), I used Cadet Gray.

Why take the topper off? The holes are already lined up - - just hand stitch them yourself. Needle. Thread. Ladder. Six-pack. Presto.

Used contact cement between the fabric on the hem, then moved slide in till it dried. Easy fix and has lasted 5 years so far.

Denis, I had the same problem this spring, the ends had long been loose, i had used some fabric adhesive on those, but in high winds this spring the part attached to the coach came loose, stitching. I found an upholstery shop and had the entire awning re.stitched, my fabric was in good condition otherwise, but when reinstalling I reversed the fabric on the roller, there is enough unused on the roller to have a new awning.
There is a good shop in lake wales, fl, J&J sun shades, I think she would fix you what you want. Marvin, 07 allure, 31459

Why not have Chris (on this site) make them and send them to you for local installation?

Thanks Herman.
We are currently inland (Denver, CO) but plan to be in Florida this winter....

PS. To the other posters, I did repair it by hand, but do not expect to get 5 years out of it....

Hi Denis,
We live in Panama City, FL and there is a great little sailmaker here in town that I could recommend. We have had some things for our sailboat made by her.
Panama City is a little off the interstate in the panhandle but the good thing is our season will be over instead of just getting going like south FL. The weather is still nice in the fall.

Denis - Been there done that. Also consider vendors that custom make boat covers. I've replaced all four of our awning toppers with SeaMark material. What's important is to make sure the bottom is impregnated with vinyl so it's completely watertight. Add some extra width to the extent the drum allows it. Carefree of Colorado is marketing junk and charging a good buck too. What a surprise in the RV industry. SeaMark has held up well for us so far. It ain't cheap at some $60/yd. Sugar House Awing in Midvale, Ut did ours and a fine job at that. I sent one awning topper to them with dimensioned drawings for the other 3. And they made four that fit perfectly.
