Title: No Fuel Gauge Reading

I have a 1998 Country Coach. The needle on my fuel gauge is pegged all the way to the right past the full mark. The gauge is made by Datcon. I'm going to check the ground connection. How can I tell if its the gauge or the sending unit. I can say that the needle will bounce just a little when I am down to what I calculate to be 1/4 tank. I use my trip meter to figure out how much fuel I have. I have a 110 Gallon tank. When I travel about 800 miles then I know I have about 20 gallons left in the tank. Before I pull away from the fuel pump I reset the trip meter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are getting ready for at trip from Cape Cod to Lancaster Ca. in a few weeks

If you disconnect the meter the reading should return to zero. I've purchased gauges from

in Phoenix. If the same guy still runs it, he's very knowledgeable and helpful. I've stopped at his business and talked to him personally and also discussed problems over the phone.

I had a fuel gage problem that was caused by the connecting wire between the sender and the gage. Russ Warren '95 Intrigue 10070

Have some one watch the gauge with the key on, short the sender wire to a good ground it should drive the gauge to empty. If not the problem lies between the tank and gauge. It is most likely a bad ground at the sender or a bad gauge. If it is a capacitance sender bio diesel or moisture in the fuel will drive it to do this. If it is a resistor gauge that will not cause a problem.
