Superior Coach in Lebanon TN just installed a new Samsung 197 residential fridge for us. My coach is a 2007 Tribute 260... It's cold here tonight so I'm wondering about the vented cover required by the old Norcold. DW & I covered the vents on the cover from the inside and I put insulation on the ice maker waster line as much as possible. What does everyone do about the vented cover when you have installed your residential refrigerator? Can you buy a new cover that isn't vented? I know the paint scheme would be a problem....but how do you keep the cold out when full timing in the winter? Thanks, D. Jean

Well, normally when changing over to a household you would seal off the vent holes with insulation and aluminum from the inside of the coach when the refer is out for the upper vent and for the lower vent we do the same but make the aluminum panel removable from the outside so you can access the water line & power cord. Sure don't want the lines or valve freezing....
On a side note, if the vents aren't sealed off you'll have quite a breeze while driving unless you sealed the side of the refer like the nocold was. Made that mistake once! Sounded like a window was open when driving....

I put two layers of rigid insulation "up in the hole" to match the thickness of the existing roof insulation. Then I removed the cover, covered the opening and curbs with a waterproof membrane (rubber roofing) and re-installed the cover.
I used Robert Nodine's method: https://picasaweb.google.com/102818402720431077518/TravelStraps (https://picasaweb.google.com/102818402720431077518/TravelStraps) for securing the door while traveling.

I have just discovered my fridge is now dead in my 2000 Affinity. has anyone put a Samsung 197 in the affinity? Just curious about the fit. Thanks!
