I have a 2002 40' intrigue 370 cummins,
My fan is running full speed all the time, coolant temp stays about 180 degrees, there has been a few times after driving for a couple hours that the temp would slowly start to rise and get up to the 200 to 210 range and stay in that temp range, the fan is not on full speed when this happens. (this seems normal) it will stay like this until I stop or get in to slow city driving then the temp drops and stays like that. the next day it will do the same thing, some days the fan runs full speed for as long as I drive. I have tested the coolant temp switch 1.5 ohms cold and the air temp switch at 2.5 ohms when cold, these numbers get lower as the temps get warmer. I have checked all the connections, wiggled, unplugged checked the connecters, the controller has power and a ground and I am leaning towards a bad controller. any info would be appreciated.

the controller is a pn#1090409

Ken,

Bad controller is correct.
1090409 is the controller assembly which includes the hydraulic valve. The valve is rarely, if ever, the problem.
1090408 is the electronic controller only. Cheaper and easier to install.
Good luck.

I had the same experience with my previous coach, 05 Inspire, and it was only the electronic portion that had to be installed which saved a lot of work. However I had purchased the complete assembly and they don't take portions of the unit back. :-( I could have save a very significant portion of the cost if I had just ordered the electronic portion.

Ken, if you are still having problems with your fan, I have a controller (P/N 1090409) that was removed from my 2000 Allure. The problem was incorrectly diagnosed as the controller when the coolant sensor was the problem. Let know if you are interested. Don at 408 268-6386.
