Well, one of our fluorescent fixtures in the bathroom stopped working. Rather than fixing or replacing it, I thought I might replace the bulbs with LED strips. There are videos on YouTube showing this process. I measured the power to the fixture and found that it was coming in at 27 volts, which surprised me. I know that LED strips sometimes come with 24V specs. I'm wondering if anyone has undertaken this upgrade? Would you be willing to share your knowledge and sources for the parts you used?

Thanks in advance

27 volts? I installed 12V LED in our fixtures, easy and worked great. Sure you had meter set to DC?

Jerry I replaced 3 of mine in October at a Good Sams Camping Rally in Atlanta, Ga. I'm sorry but I don't remember the name of the vendor who replaced them. I will spend some time today and see if I can find the paperwork and get back to you. I will say this, its a very good move. Your lighting is so much better with the strips. And according to the person who installed them I wont live long enough for them to go bad. I am going to a FMCA Rally in Perry, Ga in March at which point I plan to replace all the others. I have a total of 13 in my motorhome.

I had a fixture fail several month ago. I used LED replacement BULBs instead of strips. I ordered them from RCV Custom Coach Service P O BOX Eugene, OR 97404 541-870-6233.

I'm not good with electrical issues so I had a mobile service do the installation. It was quite simple and he took less than 30 minutes to complete the install. I replaced the bulbs in the 2 fixtures in the vanity area of the coach.

I whet with the bulbs because they give off a uniform light throughout the tube and you do not see the LED individual units when turned on.

My wife was really please with the better lighting made in the vanity area.

Thanks to all for replies. My bad on the voltage reading. I couldn't get over that and traced the bogus reading down to a low battery in the volt meter. I'm going to try the upgrade.

Have not been able to post reply for over 2 months, so this is a test.

Jerry,

I have 17 fluorescent fixtures in our coach and all have been replaced with LED stripe.
From tl_miniworld,I ordered 4 rolls of 12V 5 meter white 5050 300 LED SMD Flexible strip light- non waterproof. This is equivalent to "daylight" fluorescent tubes. Also ordered 10x LED to LED connectors 2p 15cm wire for 10mm width single color 5050 as I do not like to solder. You get 10 connectors that can be cut in half- so you now have 20 connectors. Took each fixture down, took the guts out and put either 2 or 4 stripes in a fixture depending on how much each is used. DW is now a happy camper as she is a beader and now has plenty of light. If you need more information, let me know and I will post my cell number.
