Hi All, on the top of the power steering reservior it states that 3 filters need to be replaced every 6000 miles. The filters are NELSON brand. Does anyone know where to buy these? Dale Affinity 6129

I am under the assumption that ALL Country Coaches have the same power steering reservoir and that we all need to change the filters every 6000 miles....where are you all purchasing these filters? Is anyone changing these filter? I am puzzled that NO one answered my email. Thanks for your help. Dale

Thanks Dr. Bob. I am in California and I was hoping to get them locally so as not to have to order them from CC. I appreciate your help. Dale

I bought mine at FleetPride. Try their website http://www.fleetpride.com (http://www.fleetpride.com) for a dealer location.

My coach is not here right now, so I can't check the manual. It seems to me, though, that the manual or someone at CC told me the 6,000 miles is not necessary. I change my filters once a year.

Dale,

Did some reaserch on the subject since I've been doing some end of season servicing of my own. My information is relative to a 2002 Intrigue. The CC chasis manual and confirmation from the factory specifies changing the filter every 15,000 miles, not 6,000 as specified by the label, and use Dexron III, not II, as also specified on the reservoir label. Also the filter number on the label, Nelson 84220A, is correct.

I asked about the disparity between the reservoir label and the manual/factory specifications. They said the label is old (from when they were using Dexron II) and they continued to use it to indicate that the fluid was Dexron.

Hope that helps

We have a 2003 allure newport with the 370 cummings, which at very low speeds, (1-5 mph) the power steering is jerky like the transmission pump on a car is going out. Has anyone else experienced this? We are taking it to CC later this month to be looked at.

Hi. I had the same problem. In fact, the dealer delivered it to me with a bad power steering pump. It would only work well at higher rpm's. Jerky at an idle. We had to replace the pump under warranty. I suggest you have a cummings shop do it. I had an independent change mine and it started a series of problems that nearly drove me nuts. Mine has leaked three times since. Oil all over the toad, etc. It's going to cummings under warranty for another pump.

We have a 2003 Allure, Newport 40' with the Cummings 370. At very low speeds / low RPM's the Power Steering is jerky like it would be if the power steering pump were faltering in an automobile. CC partially solved the problem by adjusting the idle from 600 to 700 RPM's but not totally. Is anyone else with the Cummings 370 having this problem or is it unique to us. If we are the only ones with this problem then perhaps the fix is somethng more than just increasing the idle. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi, Steve and Linda. I have the same set-up you have and have not experienced the jerking you report. I would pursue it further.

I just thought of a possible, although remote, cause of your problem at very low speeds and rpm's. Are you picking up your tag axle for sharp turns at low speeds? I don't know if leaving it down would translate to jerkiness in the steering, but it's a thought.

Woops! I just realized that my message creates more confusion than help. Sorry, I must have been dozing at the keyboard.
The pump for power steering is also the pump that produces hydraulic fluid for the engine fan. It is supplied by Country Coach. They install it on a Cummins (or other) engine.
In my case, the pump was defective so I had it replaced under warranty. CC provided a new pump to an independent garage. The initial replacement job was less than perfect because it leaked hydraulic fluid on my first trip back to New York. I had it repaired under warranty at a Cummins shop in Ohio.
It began leaking engine oil after that job. Our Cummins shop in Utah removed and replaced it using new gaskets under Cummins warranty since it then was out of CC warranty.
It now leaks engine oil again, I'm assuming from the same gasket. The Cummings service writer told me they would either fix the leak or replace the pump under the five-year 100k engine warranty.
If it needs a new pump, I doubt Cummins will pay for a CC part. Hope this clears up my initial answer.
