It appears mine is shot (small leak of refrigerant behind outside access door). I've heard of buying house units (electric only) from Samsung or Sears a lot cheaper but would rather have an exact replacement--I've had good luck with the NORCOLD until now (my CC is a 2004 Newport, # 31070--with big side window).
I live in Albuquerque but am in Yuma until the end of March. Wondering if any of you could recommend a solution short of replacement, or failing that, good dealer near by (Yuma/SanDiego/Phoenix/Tucson).
Thanks,
Jim Mercer

There is a replacement refrigerant unit made by Pines. It works great and removes the fire danger.

Thanks Mike.
I called PINE RV Refrigeration in Shipshewana, IN and they said you are correct. They manufacturer their own replacement units that they believe are an improvement oer the original ones provided by Norcold. They only sell their units to dealers, but they have one in the Yuma area. Total cost is expected to be about $2,000. Pine RV Refrigeration is at (260) 768-7990 and ask for Larry.
Thnanks again, Mike. Your info was a life saver.

I had the Amish (Pine) cooling unit installed almost 2 years ago. Best thing to happen to my Norcold. Cost installed just under $2000.00. Keeps ice cream cold while running on temp set on 3. My aftermarket warranty would not do the residential refer so I insisted on the Amish. Great unit.

Colin Germain, A-Mobile RV Repair here in Tucson replaced the cooling unit in my Norcold refrigerator (model 1200XX) fifteen months ago. Unit was $1,695 plus $425 for labor. Expensive, but a lot cheaper than replacing the refrigerator. Germain is best RV mobile repairman we've met. Former Beaudry serviceman, has done a lot of work for us. Can fix anything. He also corrected the screwed up factory installation job that could not be seen behind the refrigerator. Refrigerator was glued into the cavity and was difficult to remove.
