As some may remember I had started repairing the bad slide trim paint on the bottom horizontal runs back in October of 2012. I chronicled this effort in an article here:

http://www.muniac.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=126#Post126 (http://www.muniac.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=126#Post126) to assist others than might want to effect similar repairs. Anyway, this is somewhat of a time consuming undertaking which requires dry weather, no dust , adequate temperatures and motivation. Slide #4 is in the shade and we got socked with 9F weather. The really cold stuff blew out which was followed by a warming trend. But not quite warm enough to paint. But I could strip the old paint, clean and prep the aluminum. A got one warm day so I shot a quick coat of primer to stabilize the job.
I had to leave the job unfinished for some weeks because of cold weather.

This past week we were getting temps in and around the 60s. I needed 4 good days to complete the work. Luckily the site next to us on that side remained vacant. Poor man's luxury lot. So I bit the bullet and finished the painting. For the pitted aluminum, you can use a quick drying spot putty. I'm really happy to get all four slides completed and rid the bus of its peeling trim paint. It's important to keep up the image of the neighborhood. Safe travels.

Hi Scott,

I sure appreciate your blog, cuz my 05 Allure has the damn blisters on 3 of the 4 slides....
Maybe thinking on tackling this using your approach when the weather is better. would like to contact you off list to discuss.

These blisters are a pain, and not having the skills or patience of Scott I used his very useful blog to present a process to my paint shop who have sorted them for me.... for the moment at least!
