Title: 05 Inspire Front Curtain Replacement

Greetings!

Has anyone successfully replaced the original equipment front curtains with MCD or similar shades? The Inspire's instrument hood obstruction appears to be a problem.
I seem to recall someone modified the hood to allow the shade to lower to the dash. Quite a project, but I'm not sure it would be worth it! If not motorized day/night, what other options are there? Thanks for your advice.

Jay, I had mine done at Infinity Coach in Washington State on my, then 05 Inspire. They did a nice job and it is very convenient .
Had only the cockpit done. Windshield, Toll Window and Door entrance/ Passenger Window. Power for the Windshield, Toll and Door Day and Night shades.

So Jay, where do I get a replacement for my privacy curtain on my '05 CC Inspire? Have a hole in the original one. Assume replacement is a better option than trying to repair, even if I knew how.

We have an 06 Inspire, and it's always bugged me because ours anyhow is a few inches longer than it needs to be for where it is on the dashboard when it's in the position to be covering the whole front window. Regarding the new one you have from Millie's in JC, is it still the same in that it's longer than needs to be where I described? Thank you. Has anyone with an Inspire or Allure (06 or so and not sure if the Allure front curtain is the same as the 06 Inspire) had anything done so that it fits correctly? Thanks.

Good morning Gary,

From Kevin Waite (partsmeister extraordinaire), Davis Cabinets in Junction City has a boatload of serviceable front curtains from folks who have upgraded to the MCD's.

That might be my fallback if my (east coast) MCD search fails.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for the response. What's an MCD? Is that anything like a BDL or an LMT? Can I get a like replacement?

I have replaced the front curtains on my 04 inspire with mcd powered day and night. Best thing I ever did. Installation because of the bow of the windshield and cabinet design of a 04 may be different than on 05. If you call mcd and ask them they should have your configuration documented. I ended up with two independent shades that overlap in the middle. Similar to what they do in the older foretravels.

Regards,
Steve

Jay,

On the Inspire's we do as you describe, modify the dash gauge (hood?) rear cover. CC just used a half moon shaped piece of fiberglass & covered it with the same vinyl as the dash. When we're doing the MCD 1-piece powered windshield shade we pull the vinyl loose from the fiberglass cover, shorten up the rear edge (closest to windshield) some have to be shortened up more than others, regardless of amount, make room so the shade has room to get to the dash and not be hitting or sitting on the bump when down. Of course other mod's have to be done to the "A"? pillars and probably the underside of the overhead cabinet, along with building & installing valance's to hide the roller blinds.
We've done quite a few CC's over the years, different models but probably more Inspire's then the others. And yes I believe putting the MCD's windshield & Side window shades are one of the best things I've ever done to my personal coach - - and I've done just about everything we have done to customers. (Floors, upholstery, cabinet, TV's, shades, furniture, etc.etc.etc.)

Thanks to everyone for your observations and advice.
Clearly there are a number of ways to skin this cat with the MCD solution. I am awaiting their latest and greatest from their resident expert. I'll share that info when I get it.
