Most of my windows are fogged, not really bad but enough that we have been planning to have them repaired. However, someone on another forum suggested getting the perforated vinyl window treatment that matches the color scheme of your rig. It hides the fogging.... you don't really notice it. I've seen these on newer American Dreams, Heritage. I am told you can see from the inside out quite well. Actually, both I and the DW like the idea and have seen pics of this on Wade RV at Lazy Days.

I am interested if any other CC owners have done this or have any direct experience with this process. I don't know anyone with a newer Eagle or Heritage but apparently it is a factory option on those.

We had a few windows that were fogged up also. We had them defogged at Suncoast Designers, Inc. in Hudson, FL. They guarantee the windows to stay clear for 10 years.

Donna, Suncoast is one of the options we're considering. Can you tell me how much they charged per window? I just got an estimate today to do the perforated vinyl matching my color scheme on 7 windows....$500 - $600.

Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary,

We have not seen the vinyl window treatment. The fogging continues to get worse and eventually involves the entire window. If you wait too long on getting the repair the fogging becomes permanent on the glass and it can no longer be cleaned and resealed. When that happens you are talking really big $$ replacing the glass.

Marta, yes both of the places I have checked (Suncoast in Hudson, FL and RVFogDoctor in Arkansas) say that the fog can be removed if the glass has not been etched.
The perforated vinyl merely hides the window fogging. From the inside of the coach, it appears you have a sunscreen on the window so you really don't see the fogging. You can see out well....sort of like when you use one of those black mesh windshield covers. It really adds a custom look to the coach. You can see some great pics at www.waderv.com (http://www.waderv.com).

Gary where did you get the estimate from?

Sounds like I would like to put the vinyl on my salon and bedroom windows, but when I look out the window to see the rear view mirror I need a clear view. At the cost of $225 per window, I am a happy camper.

It's not what you look at that counts, it's what you see.

Donna, agree. The vinyl is not for the driver's window or the entry door window....or even the little window by the passenger seat. I would only want the vinyl on the remaining windows.
$225 is not bad for the defogging process.

Ray, I got the estimate for the perforated vinyl from Sun Solutions in Vinton, VA. They do a lot of commercial vinyl wraps, signage.
