To access our 2000 model Intrigue block heater it is necessary to connect an extension cord to the connector in the passenger side rear bay.
I discovered just how inconvenient this is when we were caught in a surprise snow fall in Reno and had to go out at six in the morning to find the extension cord and connect it so that we could get a good start at eight o'clock.
It seemed to me at the time that the heater should be operated from inside of the coach using a simple switch to connect to the shore power 110V or generator 110V if dry camping.
Do the newer units have an improved system or is it still necessary to attach a separate power cord?

Funny that you should mention "a simple switch". Just last evening we were discussing the very same idea. Our 2002 Allure is just like yours - find the cord, find the connector, etc. A switch would be marvelous!
Hope someone at CC reads this!

We have a switch on the toggle switch cluster at left of driver and one next to the bed (I think).

? I am camped at snowy Hart Ranch in the Black Hills of SD now. I have the old style block heater and have to hook up an outside extention cord. No problem...However, how long a time period do you use the block heater? I will be here for several days. Can I hook up the line and just leave it on? Or, should I wait until the night before leaving and then hook it up? Thanks.

If you are paying the electric Bill or are concerned about Electrical Consumption, I'd do it in the early evening before you leave. I bet like more resistance heaters it is a power Hog ! ! ! !
