Hello all, hoping I can get some questions answered. I went to look at a '98 36' CCSGFD Chef's Choice Magna today near where I live in Fl. Here are my questions, and thanks in advance for any help. The owner got this coach in trade for his old Newell, and hasn't really used it, so he was not much help in locating items, or on the operation of much in the coach.
1. Where is the Wabasto boiler located? I looked in every exterior bay and could not find it, but the sheet on the bathroom vanity door says it has hydronic heat, and the controls are fore and aft interior. What are the ups and downs of this system?
2. The coach was newly painted in 13 and has new interior carpet and tile. Anything to look for that should stand out as being correctly/incorrectly done?
3. I plan to have a independent inspector look at this coach, but was wondering if there any major things from your experience that I should look for before considering spending money on an inspection.
4. Any preference on the air leveling versus hydraulic?
Sorry for all the questions, and have many more, but don't want to overwhelm all at once.
Ron

I own a 40' 1998 CC Fanfare with a single slide. It is on a Gillig chassis and has a Detroit Diesel Series 40 engine. If your unit is the same as mine:
1) The Wabasto is located in the back drivers side next to the engine and accessible through a small (about 1' square) door. This makes it very tight to service but not impossible. The system shares coolant with the engine. It is an amazing system and will keep the coach warm as toast at at least 15 deg F. I don't have experience at lower temps. That said, it gives off some diesel fumes outside the coach and unless you use proplyene glycol anti freeze, the coach will smell from the ethylene glycol inside the coach. Like all wabasto systems it can be unreliable if not serviced regularly.

3 My coach had sat for some time and accumulated water in the fuel. This rusted the fuel tank (not aluminized) and allowed microbes to grow in the tank. Problem was difficult and expensive to fix. Check the fuel tank and turbo.
4 Air leveling works fine for us but the coach is not rock steady and you can feel the movement of people and wind. Some may object. Otherwise works fine.
My coach is a fine, comfortable and well built coach. We are very pleased with it but be prepared for maintenance work and associated costs.
Good luck,
Bob

Ron,
if you are anywhere near Lakeland FL, Butch Williams at Fountain RV in Lakeland is very familiar with Country Coach. He is a very good resource.

Thanks Bob. Provided that info to the owner and he called back that he had located it. Will check on #3, and thanks for the info on #4. Appreciate it immensely.

I'm on the space coast, but found several receipts in the books from Fountain RV, so he may know the coach. Would he be open to a call?
Thanks!

Did you have this coach inspected? Did you purchase?
