Hi All,

Having a problem with OTR A/C. Last summer had system recharged and the a/c ran great for a few weeks. This summer found a/c to be not working. Had system serviced in Lodi Ca and the system worked great Thursday driving to Redlands. On Sunday as I returned home no a/c. The shop advised they have experienced a number of slow leaks and found them very hard to diagnosis.

Has anyone had same problem with a 07 Allure or similar? All help greatly appreciated. Attempting to make cross country trip this summer and a/c will be very important.

Any ideas of very good a/c service companies in No. Cal.?

Thanks for all the comments.

David - My front A/C unit was weak. I just replaced it. Details here: http://www.muniac.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=477#Post477 (http://www.muniac.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=477#Post477) If it's a plug to plug compatible unit, the replacement isn't too bad of a job. Kevin Waite, Steve, Jeannie and I did all the work. Great team!! Good luck!

Best - Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks very much for sending. Unfortunately my problem is my dash air, but thanks very much for the comments. I know Kevin is great to work with.

Take care,

David

David, I have same coach and my dash air system started leaking near the test ports in the engine compartment. My first alert was seeing red oil bubbling out of one of the Schrader valves. A coach shop in NC (Tom Johnson's) replaced the hose and fittings, tested the system and recharged it. It has worked fine until now and I am now seeing oil coming from the same area on the new hose (one of the crimp fittings seems to be leaking again). It is odd that I seem to be losing some compressor oil but the thing still blows cool air.

I am in Iowa heading to Oregon. Tom Johnson's has been informed and has told me to have a shop check it and call them. If I can make it to Kevin's shop in Junction City, I plan to have him take a look at it. If it quits cooling altogether, I may need to try and get I fixed before then.

I had a problem with my OTR AC not cooling, I thought it was a simple recharge issue. The engineer found a leak on the swage to one of the refill points and replaced the hose. Still unable to get the system running properly. It was in effect overheating and getting to high pressure. The cooling fan for the OTR AC on the rear passenger side was not coming on. This was traced back to the tri switch in the front dash. I ordered a new one from CC. But it turns out the fault remained. Eventually it was identified with an additional wiring schematic from CC that the coach was wired wrong from day 1 in 2008, 2 wires cross connected at the tri switch under the dash. So it had never worked properly for the original owner either!!!
I would check that the rear fan comes on and off when you have the AC running, if it does not I can let you have the schematic to check the wiring, it's easy to get at.

Our 2005 Intrigue had a slow leak that sounds just like yours. Unfortunately it took the shop about a week to find about 4 leaks. They added leak checker to the system and then put the system under a higher pressure than normal with nitrogen. They used two types of leak detectors - gas and black light - to find all the leaks. Before that we would get a leak fixed and get back not he road and 4 months later we would have low refrigerant. We were in the shop 7 times in two years before it was finally fixed.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the information. Where was the shop that performed your test?
