I have the electrically operated toilet in my rig which has always been noisy. Lately, however, the noise has changed. It now sounds like it is in a bind when flushing. My file guide says I have a book on the toilet, but it's not in the box. Has anyone else had this problem, and, if so, what is the fix? I'm tempted to try some silicone lube on the seals and also spray some on the gear mechnism(if I can get to it). Will appreciate some input before disaster strikes.

Walt:
I down loaded they manual from the Thetford web site. It shows you how to operate it manually when the unthinkable happens.

Walt I just found my downloaded copy of the manual. I'm attaching it to this email.
Let me know if this works.

Chuck, you're a gentleman and a scholar. I successfully downloaded the manual, and though it doesn't say anything about lubrication it does say there is a three-year warranty! With that and instructions for manually flushing I am alot more comfortable.
Thanks again,

Walt,
If you operate the toilet manualy, don't make the mistake I made while dry camping at the CC rally.
Make sure the paper has cleared the blade before releasing the button. After dry camping, our toilet would not hold water in the bowl, and it turned out that paper had been caught by the blade at it closed, and packed into the slot in the seal where the blade closes.
(This was covered in the manual)
It required locking the blade open and digging the paper out with a bent clothes hanger, while the wife held a flashlight and inspection mirror so I could see what I was doing. Thank goodness she didn't drop the mirror down into the tank!

Walt;
Did you ever find an answer to your noisy toilet. It seems like mine has caught the same bug and is making a loud grinding noise while flushing in the past two days. My Thetford Aria booklet has no information on this problem. Any clues?

Yes, Robert, I got an answer. The entire slide mechanism had to be replaced which Thetford did under their 3-year warranty. Unfortunately, I was not near a dealer, so had to pay the installer his labor ( Thetford sent in the parts overnight). Thetford is to reimburse me as soon as they receive the defective parts.
I asked the Thetford guy if this was a common problem with this toilet and he replied it was with the " earlier models." Mine got to the point it would stick in the open position which was not very present. It aeems to be ok now and is somewhat quieter than when new.
