Title: Cock roaches

When we were at Roquetas (in Spain) we saw some large cock roaches in the drain dump. Although I left my 3inch hose out it the drain was covered and the dump valves were shut unless dumping. We moved to Madrid 4 days ago and I am using the macerator. This morning there is a large cock roach in the toilet. It is a marine Tecma with built in macerator so how it got past I do not know. How it got past the valve I do not know. Of course I am now concerned about the tank(s) and if there are more?
Has anyone had this issue and whats the way to treat the tanks if they are in there?

Michael,

Cockroaches are quite good at what the do but I doubt if one could crawl past a water tight valve. If I were a betting man I would wager that the beast crawled up through the coach to get a drink of water out of your toilet. I don't think that you have to worry much about cockroaches in your holding tanks but inside the coach is another issue. Remember the old saying that if you see one there are probably 50 more. There are bait type poisons on the market that target cockroaches and work very well if you follow the directions carefully. They carry it back home thus eliminating the next generation.

Get on it right away and good luck.

Done battle with both the American and the smaller German cockroach and won.
