Surprise, surprise. When I picked up my 2004 CC Prevost it did not have a CB radio. Does anyone know of a handheld CB? Even a 1 mile range will do.

Clickon http://www.cobra.com/ (http://www.cobra.com/) . Also stop in at a Petro, Flying J, etc, truck stop to see what's on their shelves.

Joel, you can get a pair of hand-held CB's at Walmart for about $ 70 if memory serves me right.

My cousin bought a hand held CB for use in his MH and was very unhappy with it. He returned it and bought a permanent mount with an external antenna. I've owned three new CCs and they all have had CBs installed. As I recall they were all "one handers" with no in-dash mounts. The Prevost is surely pre-wired for a CB with an external antenna. jerry in NM, '00 Magna.

I think you will be disappointed in a handheld. The wattage output is usually limited to 1-watt or less. Many are 100 milliwatts or 1/10th of 1 watt. The fixed mobile unit is limited by regulation to 5 watts maximum. The external antenna will offer better gain on signal than the antenna on a handheld. Overall, a handheld may be good for around the campground, but lacks the punch for reliable vehicle to vehicle communications of any reasonable distance.
Even though my coach came with a CB and I usually have it turned on, I personally perfer ham radio VHF/UHF/HF equipment for more reliable communications. FRS/GMRS handhelds are also decent for close communications. My wife and I find them useful when attending rallies or RV shows and get split up.

Is he talking about a battery-powered handheld? Or an all-in-one fixed mobile handheld?

Joel,
Recommend a brand named "Midland", they used to be available through Campers World. I would also try Radio Shack as well.
