Well, after doing such a good job on the entry door check repair I am now locked out. Reassembled the door, exercised dead bolt and door latch keys, exercised key fob lock and unlock. Did all of this before I closed the door. Closed the door and now the main handle will not unlatch from the frame bolt. The keys both work and I can hear the mechanisms operated but something became disconnected from the main handle. All windows are locked. It is beginning to look like breaking a window to gain entry but even them I'm not sure I will be able to access the latching jaws, etc. All ideas welcome.

Lyle,
It has been my experience that locksmiths can be pretty crafty at entering locked vehicles without breaking windows. It might be worth a try. Do you have lock-out insurance like AAA? Daron Hairabedian 98 Allure 30226

Rather than break window if that ends up being route, think about removing skylight. Lot cheaper to reinstall and seal than a window.

Lyle, we had our CC 06 Inspire door lock, the power lock portion, and it took a fabulous locksmith about 1/2 hour because the lock needed to some lube stuff put in it and that without that it should have been a 2 minute job. I hope yours worked ok with getting it opened. Yuck!!! Sorry!!! Mary and Mike Frederick

Ray, I thought of that but the only skylight big enough is in the shower and that one looks like it has an inner and an outer lens. I don't know if the inner piece is attached to the outer one and therefore if it comes out as a single unit. If so that would be great. Maybe someone on the forum knows how that skylight is assembled and can chime in. Thanks for the suggestion.

Lyle, I replaced the shower skylight last year (2002 Intrigue) and it was very straight forward, 2 piece all from the top.....Skip #11329

I'm in. Apparently what happened was when I replaced the deco piece over the inside door handle that opens the door it pressed the lock slide to the locked position. In that case the outside key will not unlock the door. The solution: after a few hours of being pissed off at myself and conjuring solutions, it occurred to me to drill a small hole in the driver's side window frame, just below the latch, insert a still wire to engage the latch and push. Eureka!. The latch went to the up (open) position and the slide portion of the window slid open. A fellow much younger than I went through the window and unlocked the door. Now I will go to the hardware store and buy a small hole plug and the job is done. Thanks for all the suggestions. They made me think.

Mary, I'm still trying to figure out how to send an offline message and your msg is my test to see if this msg will go to you offline. If so, please respond. Thank you. Lyle

Have tried the link the bottom of a message, "reply to sender"?

Ray, I do not have a "reply to sender" at the bottom of the posts. I have a "reply to message" or a "reply" in which case both post to the forum and not to an offline email to the one who originally posted a comment.

Lyle,
How do you read the posts? Do you do it online by accessing the group directly or do you receive them as email and read them using an email client on you PC/tablet/Phone? I currently use Windows Live Mail to receive the posts as emails (A Yahoo selection in your group profile). There is no way to replay directly to the original sender but the message as forwarded to your email provider usually contains somewhere the email address of the original person that made the post. I select that address and when I reply to the message I paste that address over the CC Group address. Not as convenient as the reply to sender available on the group online but the convenience of receiving the emails instead of having to log on to Yahoo is worth it for me.

Don, I access the group directly via the Yahoo website. Isn't this a silly thread? Where is the member list we used to have that showed the member's profile and their email address if they posted it in their profile? Or, where is the little email envelope that allowed us to email directly to the sender.

Lyle, I did not respond, and so sorry! This came through on the CC blog I'm afraid.
