Title: Wiring schematic for step cover - 1998 Intrigue

I am looking for any wiring schematic or diagram for my 1998 Intrigue Tiara which shows the wiring for the electric motor mechanism for the cover that extends & retracts to cover the stairwell.

My issue is that the cover will extend but will not retract (has to be forced back in manually). Kevin Waite advised me that there are limit switches inside the mechanism which can stick and cause issues such as this; I have tried hitting the outside of the channel with a hammer to try to free up any stuck switches, but it has not worked.

Kevin also says there is a motor & harness replacement kit for several hundred dollars which bypasses these limit switches. It occurs to me that if I can figure out which wires come from the defective limit switch I can just bypass it myself, by either by opening or closing that circuit. Seems easier and more efficient than spending several hundred $$ and replacing a perfectly good motor and harness just because of one un-needed switch...

Anyway there appears to be 5 wires coming out of the housing and leading to the motor harness. I need to know which of these come from which of the two(?) limit switches, and whether they are normally-open or normally-closed circuits when operating properly. I can't find this in any of the wiring diagrams in the owners manuals I got with my coach. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark M

I had the same problem on 98 Affinity. Under the drivers seat, open the bay. Square tube, pull end off, you will see the limit switch. Quick to electronics, a few bucks, reinstall. And you are done. I can't remember the price but it was cheap. Let me know if you need any help.

Awesome! I didn't dig into taking the end off the tube or otherwise trying to disassemble it. I will look at that tonight.

Thanks Max!

Max, your tip was exactly what I needed. I found that switch, and when I jumpered the wires together everything worked again. Found the exact switch at Radio Shack, soldered it in and it is working great.

Thanks for the repair tip!
