Hi All,
Have an awning that has separated from the attachment on the coach. I believe the material will need to be replaced. Has anyone replaced their awning topper? Is this a do it yourself project? Is the topper attached to the body of the coach with screws or riots? Also does anyone have a source where these can be purchased?
Thanks for all replies. Safe travels.

If you're referring to the topper on the slides, I removed them for restitching on my last coach. Not too big a problem, except for the long one which requires two people to keep, from buckling. Remove screws and slide out.

Fairly easy job if you don't mine working on a ladder. Carefree replacements seem to only sold at RV shops. Carefree has step by step directions online that make it simple. As stated the long one needs 2 people to hold. Yours if detached has most probably let the spring unwind but if not make sure you put the pin in to hold the spring before removing. If you need the instructions, I have a copy.

David, the topper fabric is held to the coach wall by a vinyl cord that is inserted into the hem of the fabric, then the hem is inserted into a track on the coach. Did the fabric pull out of the track or did the entire metal track come off the side of the coach?
I recently replaced all four of my toppers (just the material). I got the new toppers made by a company in Florida called Stone Vos . Chris Throgmorton and his wife do a wonderful job making topper and awning material and it is much heavier and better stitched than the Carefree OEM material. My wife and I replaced three of our toppers and had the longest one done by Country Coach when we were there recently having some things done.
It is not that hard to do but does take two people (for the longer toppers) and you will need a couple of 8' to 10' ladders.

David, sorry I misread your post and now see you are referring to the awning material. How did it separate from the coach?

Hi Gary
Not sure at this point unable to access the top of the slide. It appears the material is worn. It occurred in Wyoming where it was very windy.

Hi Gary,
It appears that the material pulled out of the track. The material is still attached at the right and left sides of the slide. Do you have the contact info for the company in Florida?
Thank you,
David

David, you can contact Chris at Chris@...
He will respond quickly. Stone Vos is in Brooksville, FL. Chris only makes the toppers and awning material and does not do installs. I agree that Butch Williams at Fountain RV in Lakeland is a good contact for service and/or install of new material. Butch is their service manager and is a former Country Coach tech.
