We are considering buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee for a tow vehicle. Is there anything special we need to know about them for towing? Larry and Linda

None... it is very easy. In fact it's the easiest part of hooking up the TOAD...

I just did the install on my jeep. I have the forward looking radar so you must remove hitch to drive car any distance. I used Road Master. Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone From:

I switched from a 07 Wrangler to a 14 Grand Cherokee - GC is heavy and you will notice the weight; GC hook up is actually easier than the Wrangler, just push one buttton and everthing sets up for towing; got the Overland model and the Roadmaster brackets mounted right where the tow hooks were mounted so there is no cutting of the front plastic needed; GC has been towed about 7000 mile with no issues: my tow bar does not block my active cruise control.
Suggest you look at the Summit or Overland as the air ride suspension is very nice (wife hated the ride in the Wrangler) ..... and it will jack the car up if you are running on dirt roads or off road. The mid range setting (#1) does give you a comfortable off road ride. The high setting (#2) gives you more clearance, but the ride gets harsh because you are at the max fill setting for the air suspension.
I use the Roadmaster deflector screen that goes between the car and the coach and am very please with how it performs. I actually removed the rear hanging flap with the CC name on it as it was always tragging and getting wedged under the coach when we we in a "un-level" site. With 25K miles using the screen I have had no rock chips in the the GC and I didn't get any on the Wrangler either.

I don't have any personal experience with the diesel Grand Cherokee but we spent a month next to a couple who loved theirs. You do have to have a supply of DEF but if their coach, a 2013, also requires DEF so they already had it. They were getting better than 20 miles per gallon around town.

On my wish list. Have to sell my 07 Liberty with Sterling tow bar and M&G braking system. Which braking system did you get and how easy was it to install.
