Our front (windshield) power black out shade motor is not working--grinds and then stops working. We have a 2008 Allure. Any ideas how to fix? Or where to go? Manufacturer? Open to all ideas.

Thanks,
Cori

I believe they are made by Carefree. I think I saw them on the Carefree website.

If you have the carefree power shade as do I the drive gear is slipping on the shaft from the motor. this is a cheap plastic gear that fits inside the shade roller and is pressed onto the motor drive shaft. I removed the shade, removed the 3 screws from the motor end thereby enabling removal of motor and plastic gear. After trying 3 types of glue to fasten gear to shaft I drilled the gear and shaft and using 030 safety wire to "key"? the gear to the shaft, reinstalled and it works fine. do not hold the switch running shade past the full up or down however as you no longer have the clutch action of gear slipping on motor drive shaft.
