Hit a bad bump on I65 yesterday, and when I stopped for fuel shortly after, I noted a large amount of hydraulic fluid in the bay below the driver on my 2002 Intrigue. When we got to our camp site, I noted the leak is coming from one of the hoses where it connects to the box just above the reservoir. The leak is specifically coming from the crimp just above the nut at the end of the hose. Needless to say, we in "slides in" living mode right now.
Anyone know if I can replace this without replacing all 175" of hose? Also, cannot find how much ATF the system is supposed to hold. I would imagine all has seeped out by now.
Thanks all.

Ron, The HWH reservoir capacity if completely empty is 4.8 Quarts. It's best to use the HWH hydraulic oil which is "clear". I can't imagine Country Coach filled your system with ATF.
Regarding the leak at the crimp, it's actually a SWAGE Connection that is proprietary to HWH. Their should be enough slack for a HWH field guy to Swage a new fitting onto your existing hose. You can call HWH to find if they have a Tech. near where you are @ 563-724-3396 Moscow, IA.

If its automatic transmission fluid are you sure its not your power steering? It uses the same fluid for your power steering as your hydraulic fan motor. Your power steering would be underneath the driver. A good house repair shop should be able to crimp your new fitting on provided you have enough slack in the hose, which you should.

In my work experience dealing with rubber and thermoplastic hoses, and in my opinion, a hose of that age should be replaced instead of adding a fitting because of the life cycles that hose has seen.

I blew a hydraulic fan hose and found that a Cat or John Deere dealer can easily make you a new hose of the proper braid and burst strength. Mine was made at a Cat facility.

A mobile hydraulic company can most likely come to you and install a new fitting. If you can find a hydraulic shop around you can get a aero-quip screw together fitting and install it yourself.
These are 2 options.

You can cut off end and Ttach new fitting. Takes speciL crimping tool and some room. I was lucky my broke at connection by propane tank. Temp fix pressure tape and hose clamp with duck tape.
Good luck

As a former hydraulic hose assembly and QC inspector at Gates Rubber Co, I'd recommend replacement of the entire hose with properly installed couplings. Thanks all for the advice. I talked to HWH several times today, and ordered the replacement hose. I'm presently in Northern KY, and having it delivered to the Camping World in Bowling Green, which is on our way and recommended on the HWH site. The more I look at all of the hoses, I think a trip to HWH in Moscow may be in my plans for the spring. I'm just glad we have plenty of room with the slides in, as we are enjoying the park we are in until our appointment on Thursday. Mike is right on with this. I had a similar problem where it would only leak in cold weather however it would stop when I got back to Florida. HWH in Moscow, IA fixed it by cutting back the hose and swedging on a new fitting. A prefabricated length of hose made up the difference.
