Hello Group:

We are at a SaddleBrooke Rally at Canyon Vista RV Resort in Apache Junction AZ (great RV Resort by the way) and just noticed slightly brown/red liquid coming down on the front and back of the big slide on the driver's side. A mobile tech from AZ RV Service is coming tomorrow afternoon to try to fix it.

My question is: what is leaking and what can we expect that this tech will do?

Shirley,

From your question it seems as though the leak is from the top of the slide on front and back. Likely cause is the seals on the top of the slide. According to the CC factory this summer these seals are supposed to be inspected and if damaged redone every two years. Hard to say where the brown and red came from.

Hi, Shirley.

If the liquid feels a little oily, my guess is that it is hydraulic fluid form the slide system. If it is, call HWH for advice (and, unless things have changed recently, don't expect a fast response) .
I've had more than one instance of hydraulic fluid leaks in my '02 Intrigue.

UPDATE on leaking driver's side slide:

Patti Mah who is on this site wrote me about her similar situation at the very moment spouse came in and said: I don't think it is a hydraulic leak at all. I think it is a water leak. Patti had just wrote that her tech had said determined that her leak was water picking up color from the tar from the tape sealing the slides. So, when the tech arrived the first thing he said after observation was: Do you have an ice-maker?

Yup! The hose to the ice-maker had sprung a leak and was dripping down picking up color, thus making us think it was hydraulic fluid. Apparently, the chlorine in the water eats little pin holes in the ice-maker line and the leak begins.

Here is the best part: Gary Obermire, Premier RV, Junction City, called me a few moments after my CC Yahoo post and suggested several tests we could do to determine where it was coming from and offered to talk with the tech when he arrived. What service!

So, all is good. Leak fixed.
