After our experience last week of having the ice-maker line spring a leak (after only 3 months of use) we have assumed this will occur again so we have decided to follow the tech's advice and just buy a bag a ice and put it into the ice-box where the ice would normally be dropping. You can turn off the ice-maker mechanism at the top of the refer BUT we want to turn off the water to the line or in the line so it doesn't get to the mechanism.
Can we do this? If so, how?

You can install a shutoff where the line attaches to the refrigerator or if that is where the leak happened then install a shutoff where the water line comes from.

My cut off valve is below the drawers below the ref. Got to pull the drawers to get to it
