Since you folks are so happy with vendors participating in this forum, I hope you will carefully read what he said. After running my own dealership for about 20 years, his remarks ring loud and clear: The less you know, the more you pay! That's an irrefutable fact that keeps the automobile industry on top of the list of consumer complaints.
Pity the poor soul who walks into a dealership, whether autos or motor homes, and presents the appearance of a naive but financially capable buyer. They will rip his heart out and add insult to injury by pouring on unnecessary warranties and charges. After he leaves they will have a celebration dance and make fun of the poor sap behind his back. It's free enterprise run amuck.
Any dealer/salesman who would charge an unassuming buyer full ticket for these coaches with their grossly inflated sticker prices just because he can get it will hopefully get their "comeup'ins" somehow, someday.
Face it folks, its a cruel world out there. The very reason the dealers have such inflated prices are to be able to give you lots of dough for your old coach through over allowances. As a pure bonus, some poor dude will come in off the street and pay full ticket and....who needs the lottery!
It's an exercise in futility to try to identify "dealers cost". No way, no how! There are too many factors and too many incentives.
The formula is relatively simple: 1.Identify your exact coach. 2.Determine the dealer you can trust 3.Shop at least two, maybe three dealers with the exact set of spec's.
Compare the quotes at arms length. Work them against each other. If they won't commit to a price unless you commit to buy, bid them a good day and move on!
