I just received my new insurance policy from National Interstate and the premium has increased 40% from last year & 83% from my 2013 premium. I have been with them since 2006 & have not had any claims. I spoke with the agent who in turn spoke with National Interstate. Their response was "we actually didn't increase the premium as much as we could have due to your good record". Very helpful/informative response!! I would like to know if anyone could make a recommendation for an alternative insurance company.
Thanks very much,
Fred Compton

It's called over confidence!! These insurance company's will increase your rate's every year..If you don't check your rates at least every tree years, you are leaving yourself wide open.I've had this happen with good old National Interstate, Also with Liberty Mutual and Progressive. The thing I don't understand is the fact that they didn't give you a better rate when you complained. Of course I was offered the better rates when I called to cancel. In every thing but Auto insurance you are rewarded for loyalty.

I had Nat'l Interstate for many years........never filed a claim and then the continued to raise my rates dramatically with no good reason for their actions.
I recently switched to AMICA and their rates were extremely competitive and communication with their agents has been very professional.
Good luck

We've been with National Interstate for a bunch of years and the premiums have been going down. Only have the coach insured with them and we have a Livingston TX address. No claims, no tickets. Did have a windshield replacement in 2014, had vanishing deductible (actually went to $0). They said it would not impact our premium, will wait and see.

Can anyone recommend a good RV Insurance company.
I have owned my 2006 CC Inspire for one year with no insurance claims. My current insurer "Allied Insurance" just sent my renewal notice and raised my premium by $151.64 ($1283.11 vs. $1131.47) which is 13.4%. I think this is a bit excessive.
I would appreciate any suggestions.
Thank you
George

Tell you what George, I read a couple of other forums and everyone is complaining about the rising cost of insurance. Some have see as much as a 100% increase but most are in the neighborhood of 30 to 50% higher.
Your 13% doesn't sound bad.

For many years I have insured all our vehicles through AAA of North California and Nevada/Utah. It may be a bit more costly, but I have NEVER had a problem with claim service. The relationship seems to be one of mutual trust.

Unless you have a bundled group of insurance, with home, auto, RV, umbrella with the same carrier, you are usually going to see what I call the 'Get you in rate quote.', followed by a few years of 'We think you'll stay as it's a PITA to change, rate increases.':)!
And also remember when comparing RV insurance, the difference between Full Time and Non Full Time. And of course, location, location, location does impact the various costs of insurance.
We shifted from California Wawanesa, good rates, OK claims on minor things, and a real low baller when handling total loss. For 20+ years. Wen we changed locals to South Dakota, we moved our RV and Toad to insurance that is offered in that state. Wawanesa does not. (We did leave our now vacation home garaged truck, registered in California, and maintained Wawanesa for that vehicle.)
Had multiple quotes, from three insurance brokers, and went with Blue Sky. Reasonable prices at that time, missing only glass insurance, but it has vanishing deductible, which now after three years is down to zero, for both comprehension and collision. 2nd year, we had about a 15% spike, but so did everyone else with Blue Sky, and other companies too, from what I could find out. This year no real increase on the RV, a bit on the CRV (Which I feel is way to high, even with the multi vehicle discount.).
Oddly, as I'm working with my broker again, I'm seeing rates GT $600 less per year for the RV. Allied is the lowest quote at this time.
May change to a different carrier, and have asked my broker to re-approach Blue Sky to check the police and rates.
I do not mind paying a bit more, for a company that is good/fair, vs fighting over ever little item with other companies.
Time will tell, as more quotes are coming,
Best,
Smitty

We tried to find less expensive insurance but the thing that stopped us was that our 1 million dollar umbrella policy wouldn't kick in if we insured with a different place than our Allstare policy.

We, too, have State Farm, but, are paying considerably more in AZ. May I ask what state you're residing in? Thanks

We have Allied, including house, cars, and umbrella, here in California.
$560 per year, stated value, on 1995 Magna.
Between Insurance, Sales Tax and License Fees, it is difficult to want to buy a newer rig......
