Starting battery didn't have enough juice to start engine. I had to use battery jumper to start coach and the yellow engine warning light stays on. Starting battery is an interstate 8D and is 1 year old. Ideas of why engine light is on? Related to starting battery? Thanks all for the assistance and suggestions!

Steve, have you cleaned the ground post on the battery? Jay 05 Inspire 51457

No, but I will try that. Would a low battery or dirty battery post cause the engine warning light to come on? Thanks!

In my case, yes indeed. I had an intermittent engine warning light with no other symptoms. CAT service center simply cleaned the ground post (which looked fine but was evidently corroded between the post and the connector) - - problem went away and did not return. I keep the negative posts clean these days¦.

This is interesting to me, as I had a similar issue on my initial trip when I picked up the coach. House batteries were dry as bones and I have a suspicion there are issues with the chassis battery as well. Sure would be cheaper than a trip to the shop.
Thanks for the information.

We've had two intermittent warning light events on our 2006 Inspire, one a thermostat that wasn't working right, and the other was voltage issues to the injectors. The erratic voltage problem was an electronic control unit going bad which we had to replace. The Cat mechanic told us the unit would have eventually shut us down.
Our old Beaver the Allison transmission locked in low gear because the battery posts were dirty enough to lower the required level of voltage. Keeping the batteries in good shape is high priority for reliability in our experience.

Cleaned all terminals and no start. Checked voltage under load and shows battery bad even though it is only a year old. Will replace it and see if yellow engine warning light goes off on dashboard. Will post the outcome. Thanks!

Not sure yet. If they were defective wouldn't the domestic batteries also be drained? Seems they are holding charge.

Charging system all ok! Interstate Battery offered me a very fair price on replacement since the 6 month warranty was past so I stayed with the 8D-MHD. Battery had a dead cell and had to replace. Installed new battery, coach started and engine warning light off on dashboard so appears all is good. Hopefully better luck with this battery! Thank you all for your assistance and support! Truly a fantastic group of people!

Starting battery is an Interstate 8D-MHD ( 1400 CCA) and apparently only 6 month replacement warranty. Any suggestions of what battery to purchase for starting? This one only lasted 11 months.
