Need any opinions on relocating the electronic half of the Fan Controller to air input side of the radiator. The upper Temp spec on the electronics is 222 Deg F.
When looking at the present mounting ( on the radiator shroud, 7 inches away from the exhaust pipe and on top of the speed control hydraulic valve ) It would seem to me that Temp of the electronics could pushing the upper temp spec or more, and therefore resulting failure.
I have also notice that failure rate reported seems to be much higher in hot weather .
What do you think

Marv,
I think that's a great idea. Mine just started to act up and it's the original. I was thinking that the location is limited unless you want to replace the hydraulic lines. My thought was to not reinstall on the fan shroud but to suspend it somehow as far from the radiator as possible. This would also reduce vibrations to the controller. My Cummins doesn't have any exhaust in the area but I'll bet it still gets plenty hot with the cooling air being sucked in.

I cut a hole in the shroud to get access to the screws. saved the piece I cutout in case I needed to screw it back in.

I am only relocating the electronics half to air input side of the radiator. This leaves the hydraulic valve in its original place.
