I am having a problem with the retractable steps on my 1996 Intrigue. CC says they have no parts and want to sell only a complete new assembly. Has anyone else run into this same situation? Any suggestions for parts? Thanks

The steps are made by Kwickee so you could call them. If you need the motor, there is one that costs about 50 bux instead of the outrageous price that Kwickee charges. Sorry I can't give exact info but I'm sure someone here will or you could check on one of the other boards. There is nothing special about the steps, they are used on a number of different brands.

I had problems with the steps retracting. The manual has an excellent trouble shooting guide that narrowed my problem to the door switch, any easy change using hardware store components. That was on my CC Magna 03. Now in my 07 Inspire.

What exactly is your problem?

Don, I would be interested to know where you can obtain a "motor" for $50.  First of all, different Kwikee steps use different motors even from K itself.  Secondly, do you mean the motor alone or the motor/attached gearbox? My steps  froze in --15 F and ice and it seems the gearbox in the motor assembly (the motor  is still working) got damaged. It is skipping. I have not replaced it yet but I  got the motor/gearbox assembly. Believe it or not, I found it on Amazon  for around $85. I will warn the person who has the 2002 coach: Kwikee no longer  makes the original motor. You have to replace the motor, the control box, etc.  They make a kit. I did that about 5 years ago when the original motor or  controller failed.

I got a new motor for our steps from these guys:  http://store.amequipment.com (http://store.amequipment.com)
It was around $50. I got the number off of the old motor. Only our motor was shot.
