Jan, We've had this happen several times in the past three years. We had the factory check it out but they couldn't find a mechanical problem. We have found that by pushing against the face of the cover a couple of times then press the switch it will open and close as it should.
Good Luck!

I have had this problem since I picked my coach up in the summer of 1999 and CC has looked at it four or five times and has never found anything wrong. We found that jerking it does the job!

On my old coach, 98 Allure 30255, I took the step appart and removed the old tired grease every year and re lubbed the unit. Some of you may have two inch step slide hardware, and others 3 inch, which is much more satisfactory. The 2004 Intrigue shows no problems, but the first Spring sand storm should fix that. 11731. TOM
