This is funny.  I winterized my coach, and left the hurricane on for the last 2 months with the water bay set at 50 degrees.  Everything was working fine on my 7400 hours 45xl hurricane.  Today I noticed a humming like the the fan running with out the furnace running (Just the fan).  Well I turned the coach thermostat to furnace in the coach, with galley fan on.  The Furnace did fire,  I put my hand by the muffler pipe, and yes hot air was coming out,  Did not get hot air  of of the heat register in the coach, how ever.  then the furnace flame went out,  But the unit was still humming loud.  No error codes, just C  for cycling.  So I tried again, and yes it fired up for a few minutes then turn off.  (but still kept humming) I have 1/4 tank of fuel, and the fuel filter looks like 1/10 full of fuel,  So I may, or may not have to low of fuel on board,  but why would it keep humming?  Tried turning everything off.  Still keeps humming.  I had to pull the first 10 amp fuse  Marked fan/logic .  Once I pulled that fuse, it stopped that load humming.  I did notice that I have a small dusting soot on the bottom of the bay which houses the hurricane.  So I guess I should have it serviced.  But I kept the 10 amp fuse out so will not keep humming...
Any thoughts?  I might run out and put more fuel in the coach just to see if that does anything.  I really do not need any more expense this year...  LoL..  Just building a drive-way and building for my coach..

Thanks
Bob

Well if you wait a week it will be next years expense! :^)  Sorry couldn't resist, fuel would be a cheap easy thing to try. Going to need  fuel no matter what so nothing wasted.
May still need serviced but with low fuel just too much for  the burner to overcome.

Well,  I called Hurricane and talked to JIm,  Good man, very knowledgeable.  He walked me threw a bunch of things.  Needless to say I understand everything about this system now.  Thanks to Jim in in junction city.
Seems the humming is my pump running all the time.  There is L1 - L4 wires.  They are thermostat.  L1 has constant voltage on.  (That is my basement is calling for Heat)  Seems the water is not circulating, there for no heat, and never satisfing the thermostat.
When I disconnect the solenoid wire there is no click, just a spark.  So the good news bad news.  Good News is we found the problem (so we think) we are going to call it  the solenoid problem (at east for now) .  Now the bad news,  Jim says they do not make the double solenoid valve anymore.  So he told me how to bypass the solenoid , with putting in a valve (summer / winter) so the coach wont get hot water in heating loop in summer.
I think I am going to explore to fix or find new old stock, or find someone that still makes this type of solenoid.  Kevin, you know i am going to call you for parts, so if you ant busy please weigh in.  I am thinking Grangers,  Or plumbing supplies.
IF anyone out there has any information on this project, please chime in.  I hear a lot of people having problems with hurricane,  Jim told my even after 2 years parts get discontinued.  I don't want to shell out $8,0000 for a new system (not including labor) and in a few years I can't get parts.  I am going to take a hit for the team, and jump in on this project.

Hi Robert. I'm not sure what a double solenoid valve is but after 25 yrs as a mechanical contractor I know you can build anything that can be dreamed up. I used a company called Taco for most of my hydronic valves.  I prefer motorized valves over solenoid valves. Can you explain the operation of the valve you are trying to replace

Try Calling ITR in Vancover WA. They are the factory reps for Hurricane in the US.

They have been very helpful for parts in the past.

Hi, I may be able to help you. The double Solenoid Valve (Winter/Summer) unit is manufactured by GC Valves Co. in Simi Valley, Calif. Your contact there is a wonderful guy Mr. Dave Moen. Ph: 805-582-0065. As you know this is now an obsolete item for ITR Hurricane.
Here's my story, I got the model number from my GC Valve/Solenoid called Dave Moen he advised that this assembly was obsolete but he offered to get his Inventory Man and go to their obsolete inventory warehouse and see if they had the raw brass blocks to machine and assembly for me. He knew they had the Coils and Operating Units.

He offered two options: a complete new valve assembly Pt. #M207GH15C5DG5, $375.35 or consider purchasing repair parts as follows:

1. ea. Normally Open Kit #KS202AF15C5EG5  $96.55
1. ea. Normally Closed Kit #KS201AF15C5EG5 $51.94, I think this should be $96.55

1. ea. Spanner Tool #106198E $9.32

2 ea. Coils #HS4GN15A24 $64.72 ea.

I chose to purchase a complete new assembly, you have to purchase through an authorized CG Valve Distributor, I used Parker Supply in Montebello, Calif. Ph: 323-268-3581 Inside Sales Rep: Brendon Reeves His Quote number to me is #PS073014BR.

I have photo's of my new unit I can send you if you wish to call me @ 713-828-4505, I don't know how to obtain your e-mail address on this newer web format.

Thank you so much for all your help,  But the story goes on.  I contacted ITC, being that the 2 black hoses get hot on the other side of the double solenoid block, he feels even though there is no click sound when I disconnect the DC current from the double solenoid, that they are more then not working.  So I looked at my coach diagrams, you know the 03 Allure has 2 circular pumps, one in the front of the bus,  There is also a 3 solenoid 1 in bay area, and double one inside hurricane.  I have a circulation problem.  The pump in the hurricane unit itself runs, the one in the front of the bus, which ITC is calling it the assist pump is not running.  I guess I feel  its not the pump, because the pump in the hurricane was running and there is no air, that the hose 10 inches away from the heater would be hot.  The brass fitting of the hose is very hot to the touch, and maybe 3 to 4 inches away from the heater and brass fitting are warm.  I guess I feel the one pump should push water even without the assist pump further down the line.  So I have a few things to try, one is play with the front pump, and because I added water, I should try to bleed the lines with a pump...  AAAA..  Getting threw this....  LoL

Bob, just because the Circulation Pump inside the Hurricane is running doesn't mean it's circulating the coolant at the necessary rate of flow. How many hours are on your Hurricane.

I replaced the Circulation Pump inside the Hurricane at 1,900 hrs of operation. You can when unit is cool remove the expansion tank Cap and use the jumper on the Circuit Board to start pump only and view how well the coolant is flowing.

It's Fixed.....  I want to thank Kevin @ ITC in the state of Washington ---  # 360-993-4877 ..  He turned me into a Hurricane Tech... LoL..  I took the front pump under the coach on passenger side, when I took it off, I pulled the brush, the brush looked good.  Put it back..  Whammy it worked.  Guess something got stuck in there or it just needed a little help.  Keven also I one dual  solenoid Valve (New old Stock)  Which I bought and will bench.  Best insurance that I will never need it...  LoL..  Again I want to thank anyone and everyone who helped...  Next time I will be able to help someone with there hurricane 45XL
