My 2001 Allure with a queen mattress has always been hard to open but is considerably worse after adding 3" memory foam to it. Has anyone replaced theirs? I know you have to match the length of the support, but what rating should they be? I don't want to put additional supports but replace them with something that will lighten the load. What source did you use and how much were they?

THE coach originally came with a conventional mattress. We ordered a Sleep number, with the cushioned cover. Its much lighter than the previous mattress, so we are still running on our original struts. You can always go to Pep boys and rummage around and find something close as I had to do with the bay doors and the camper shell on my Dodge pickup. . TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

If you look at the struts with a flashlight and probably a magnifying glass you should see the length and pressure stamped on them. You can then Google them and get a stronger set. But you may have to reinforce the mounts.
