We are going to replace the tile in our coach. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions? We were going to re-grout the current tile but the tile guy found numerous cracks in it so rather than spend the money on re-grouting we have decided to replace it. Thanks!

Does your coach have the electric floor heat? If so, quite often this can be damaged in the process of removing the existing tile.

If not, then it is just the detail work of removing the old tile, and getting it the grout cleaned off enough to provide good grip for the new grout and tile.

On grout, I believe that a flexible grout is available. Here is one:

Quartzlock from Starquartz.com

But, I admit I have no 1st hand info in regards to this specific grout.

And of course, after the old tile/grout removal, checking for a solid and healthy floor is required. Repair as needed.

I hope others that have actually done this, or have had it done, will provide you with more detail into. You could also contact OMC or Kevin Waite, and ask them for advice.

I'll follow this thread, as thou our electric floor heated tile is in good shape, the DW does dislike the color of the tile, and grout - it's the off or bone white color, and always looks dirty to her:)!

Best of luck,

Smitty

For those with Gold Heat there are new tools to tell you if you damage the wire and approximately where it is in the grid.

That said when my broken tile was replaced we did damage the wire and I had to learn how to repair the break. Gold Heat does have a repair kit.

We just got ours done and would suggest getting the right tile thickness so it does not impede the slide outs rubbing when opening or closing. Ask how the installer plans to do the subfloor and to be careful chipping out tiles where they butt up to wood panel walls and cabinets.  With proper preparation and plastic sheeting the coach should not get too dusty inside. We also had the carpet sections cleaned after the tile floor as well.  Also recommend new toilet main seal (hm depot) since toilet removal will cause seal ripped anyway.

And if your coach does not have Gold Heat, this might a time to see if you can get it installed.  We love ours.

Easily solved, just mop it every day...and she will love you!
