I have a TracStar TV Satellite System in my 08 Affinity. I'm trying to set it up for Dish, have upgraded the the software on it for Dish, but having a hard time getting it to work using Dish's vip 211Z receiver. Has anyone done this? Would appreciate any help!

Dish customer service can't help?
TracStar is now Cobham and is located in Orlando FL. They might be able to help. They have helped us in the past.

I called the number in the TracStar documentation and they gave me a number in Florida, Newsom Electronics. The gentleman, Willie Newsom is very nice. While in Florida a couple of weeks ago I connected with him. He met us at a rest area on I-75, upgraded the software on the dish but just couldn't get it to communicate with the TV. Didn't charge me anything either. When I got home in MI, I had a local Dish distributor spent five hours and couldn't get it going either.

We always drive from Florida to Willis (Houston) TX to see Sats2Go for any satellite stuff. He's the satellite "guru". If he can't fix it nobody can. Don't know if he can help over the phone but if you are headed that way anytime it would be worth it to see Dave at Sats2Go. We have DirecTV and Dave told us that we couldn't get HD and that we needed the basic DirecTV receiver to communicate with the dome satellite. We had him upgrade the dome with a kit to add another LNB (in our TracStar there was only one LNB originally).
So it must be the communication between the TracStar and the receiver.

What type of TV do you have? Did you change the settings in the TV to "cable" ??
The TracStar Technical Support Manual says: Dish Network customers only; perform a check switch on your satellite receiver (see your receiver manual to perform a check switch).

I have a 46" Sharp TV. Yes, I have the manual and also ran the Test more than 20 times, each time a different result.. The TracStar software for Dish has been updated. I'm at a loss.
